## New Quick Win button in tasks Tasks now have a Q in their quick links. This will only appear for tasks that do not have an estimated time. ![[Flow Quick Win 1.png]] Getting ready to press the Q ![[Flow Quick Win 2.png]] After, its duration is set to 5 minutes as a possible "quick win". If the task is already in today or next, it will not update the bucket, but if the bucket it not set, or is in later, it will move it into the Next bucket. ### UI update to task buttons The task buttons all now have a (hopefully) helpful "hover ring" around them which should make them easier to know when you are pressing them. ## Task Trust System Improvements ### Get to your tasks from focus more easily If you don't use keyboard shortcuts (you should!), you can now get to all your active tasks by just clicking on "tasks" text in the Focus view. ![[Flow Focus Tasks.png]] ### Markers We now support special tasks which can be used as markers within your prioritized task lists. These are helpful to visually divide your next list or your project lists. ![[Flow Marker Example.png]] You can drag these up and down in your lists, and you can create them for specific buckets (today and next are most useful), and in your projects. If you want to delete it, just hover over it, and it will show additional controls, including the delete button. ![[Flow Marker Hover.png]] ### Subtasks I hope you've had a chance to try out the new subtask view within the active timer (click on the details link in the page to see the task and add or view the subtasks). I've been finding these very helpful in 2 ways 1. to stay in flow with long hard projects. I just break it down and work through those subtasks as quickly as I can 2. for the emotionally hard to tackle projects. These are not always long, but they are a key target for procrastination. I find by adding a small easy to do initial step, I get into doing this much more easily. In this release, we've added additional support for subtasks including: You can see when a task has subtasks ![[Flow Task with Subtasks.png]] Just click on the double right arrows, and it will show you the task and it's subtasks. Importing and exporting tasks with subtasks should also now be much more straightforward - just indent them below the parent task. So if adding new tasks with subtasks you can use this format: ``` ## Ethics Lecture - preparing to give a good ethics lecture - review current slides 30m - review latest literature on ethics 1h x2 - review updates on books (just see if there is any material) - Blind spots 10m - How to be perfec 10m ``` And this will import correctly with each of the subtasks ### Tasks view and Editing As Text should be much faster If like me, you have a lot of "might do" tasks (😄️) collected, you will be pleased to know that we've made viewing, and editing as text, all of your tasks a lot faster (through caching and paging, and a new task status if you must know). Hopefully you've just enjoy the faster feel of it! PS: I've learned a lot in this last week about how not to overdo the use of Areas and Projects. More to come on this later, but the TLDR is that it's probably best for you to only have a few active projects (and just keep them as projects without an area - it's faster and more natural for you to hashtag them), and move the rest of the accumulated stuff into an "On Hold Projects" area. ### Project view a little nicer The title when viewing a project or areas tasks title was a little... um... technical, so it has been updated to reflect the area or project you are working in. ![[Flow Project View.png]]
