# WRAP Plan Guide > [!tip] Your Weekly Planning Workflow > The Plan step walks you through three phases to set up a great week — plus a coaching check to sharpen your plan. ## The Three Phases ### 1. Triage & Clear **Goal:** Get a clean view of what's on your plate. - Review your calendar and task list side by side - For each task: **do it** now (if quick), **schedule it** (timeblock), or **let it wait** (Later) - Use **Fresh Start** to move everything in Next to Later — then intentionally pull back only what matters > [!info] Why Fresh Start Works > Research on the **fresh start effect** (Milkman et al., 2014) shows people set more ambitious goals and follow through more after temporal landmarks like a new week. Clearing your Next list isn't losing work — it's creating a clean canvas that lets you be intentional about what earns a spot in your week. ### 2. Envision **Goal:** Write your success story for next week. - The story editor expands so you can focus on writing - Imagine it's the end of next week — what went well? - Connect your story to your quarterly goals and smart bets - Be specific: "I finished the proposal and sent it to Sarah" beats "Work on proposal" ### 3. Organize **Goal:** Map your story to concrete tasks and time. - All three panels are visible: story, task outline, and calendar - Pull the right tasks into your Next bucket - Timeblock the ones that matter most - Check that your plan matches the story you wrote ### Optimize (Optional) **Goal:** Get a second opinion on your plan. - Talk with your planning coach via voice or text - The coach reviews your goals, tasks, and calendar for alignment - Catches overcommitment, missing follow-ups, and blind spots - Available from the checklist as a separate step ## Tips - **Work left to right**: Triage first clears the noise, Envision sets direction, Organize makes it concrete - **Don't skip Envision**: Writing a story before organizing tasks prevents busy-but-unproductive weeks - **Fresh Start is safe**: Your tasks move to Later, not deleted — pull back what matters during Organize - **Use the mode buttons** at the top right to switch between phases anytime ## Related - [[Weekly Planning Ritual]] — The full WRAP checklist explained - [[Task Trust System]] — How Next, Later, and other buckets work - [[Organizing Your Tasks in Flow]] — Task management patterns
